Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at MLSP!
Of course we realize that today is celebrated uniquely by those living in the United States. However, as a company always on the cutting edge, we’re fine with breaking the rules a bit. 😉
By that, we mean we’re inviting you to celebrate with us.
No, you don’t have to run out and buy a turkey and stuff your face until you can’t move. (Which may also be unique to the U.S. as well!)
Thanksgiving was originally a day to celebrate the harvest of the first settlers (pilgrims) back in 1621. So basically the pilgrims realized that they might not starve to death… and decided to celebrate. Sounds like a good reason to celebrate!
They quickly became extremely THANKFUL for their lives, and the blessings around them.
That doesn’t have to change now just because food is more plentiful for most of us. You CAN and SHOULD still be thankful for the blessings in your life… always.
The good thing is that it’s easy and YOU can do it from anywhere.
Gratitude is one of the most powerful forces on the planet. Some even believe it can bend & tilt the Universe a little bit in your favor, which of course keeps the blessings continually flowing into your life.
The One Big Problem With Thanksgiving…
Besides the political talk at the dinner table…
The big problem with Thanksgiving is that it leads people to believe that it’s okay to save up all their gratitude for just one day a year.
Leading us to forget all the amazing things in our lives for the rest of the year. Pretty silly when you think about it, right? Yet on the flip side…
The Beauty of Thanksgiving (Besides Cranberry Sauce and Football All in One Day!)…
It forces us to look around and take some stock… and take some inventory on our lives, and count the blessings.
Thanksgiving smacks us upside the head and forces us to recognize all the blessings (both big and small) in our lives.
Seeing family and friends in the flesh and not through the filter of a Facebook profile pic can get the flood of #gratitude coursing through your veins FAST.
Conjuring up memories from when we were younger and dopier, with the people that we love to be dopey with more than anything else in the world helps us realize that we’re constantly creating new blessings.
Because next year… we’ll laugh about how hard we laughed this year!!
And therefore we come to the trick that most people don’t get.
That trick is to not save it all up until next year. Instead, as you go through each day of the year… count these gifts that you see and feel TODAY, right now, on this beautiful day…
And anchor them deep into your nervous system so that you can bring these feelings of gratitude up at will… in a moment… in a second.
The good thing is that it’s not a bank where with each withdrawal the balance shrinks.
Nope! Gratitude and thanks is the golden and bottomless cup that never empties, but only gets fuller and more valuable.
So as you look across the table at the oversized — and probably overcooked turkey — and you catch a moment of a loved one, don’t rush. Pause a minute, take a mental picture, and file the scene away for future use (and of course enjoy the moment as it’s happening too!)
Because you’ve just made a deposit into the gratitude bank.
A new memory. A new blessing. Something you can be thankful for ALL year long to drive you through even the toughest days & darkest nights.
Isn’t that what it’s all about? What are YOU grateful for?!
