Building a successful network marketing business requires a long term commitment to yourself and your team. A large majority of members inside MyLeadSystemPro came here seeking a solution from their previously learned lead generation methods taught in traditional offline network marketing. Smart move – doesn't everyone know by now there are millions upon millions looking to learn the internet marketing skills you're learning right now in MyLeadSystemPro? We call it leveraging the Internet. It's great to have you here and see each one of you develop your leadership skills with the attraction marketing principles in full force. If you're new to the attraction marketing principles just look for information in your back office training on the subject or check out the 7 step method to attraction marketing.
One major component of attraction marketing is about leading with value. If you've spent any time at all on the M-F wake up calls hosted by MyLeadSystemPro L4 leaders & Co-Founders you will have heard the words of wisdom “lead with value” repeated by all. [MLSP Wake Up Calls: M-F 8amPST/11amEDT dial in to listen 646-519-5860 pin#4598]
If you've spent any time at all listening to our Wednesday webinars where the topic is motivational you will have heard leaders speaking of creating daily habits of success – millionaire habits. [Wed. weekly webinars 6pm PST / 9pm EDT -check http://MyLeadSystemPro.com website and / or your email for registration link provided every Monday and Wednesday]
If you've spent time watching leaders youtube channels [check out leader board in MLSP back office] you will have noticed many who advise on the best books to help build your entrepreneurial, internet marketing, and mindset skills. Pure value – great stuff isn't it?! Just can't get enough of it!
So there you are – reading, watching, listening, learning, applying, — rinse and repeat. The next thing you know you're in information overload and saying those words we hear all too often: “I'm overwhelmed!”. Of course the natural tendency is to avoid what makes us uncomfortable. Before you know it the focus on your marketing has waned and your lead generation still isn't where you thought it would be by now. This is common but guess what? You can do anything you decide you want to do.
If it all seems impossible at times because you're stressed, because you need more money and can't focus, because you don't have any time, because of a million other reasons… then keep reading because one of our L4 leaders, Lawrence Tam, shared just how he manages his mindset, his family, his MyLeadSystemPro membership and his network marketing business all while holding a full time job.
I sent out an email to leaders who I knew held a full time job because I wanted to hear just how they accomplish this goal; I wanted to share how they manage this “balancing act”. I asked that they respond in paragraph form. Lawrence Tam, L4 leader, responded within 2 hours! Now that's a true leader who jumps at opportunity and is a team player – no wonder he's an L4. After reading his response it's my pleasure to feature insight into Mr. Lawrence Tam's leadership skills.
Here's what my email requested:
“If you work a full time job and lead a network marketing business on the side how do you manage it? Will you please explain in a few paragraphs how this effects your time, your life, family, income, etc.? Have you come to a point where you wanted to give it up or give up your day job? How much time do you have to lead a balanced life? Are the stresses greater than the rewards or vice versa? What keeps you motivated to do two jobs? How has internet marketing benefited your time? How has MLSP benefited you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”
Lawrence's response:
“I work full time as a mechanical engineer. How I manage? Will power. Took about 6 months to transition my mind and schedule to revolve around my business to work nights and during my lunch hour. When the kids sleep that is when my business takes shape. Sure I'm not as healthy as I was 1 year ago as the balance between physical activity and marketing is a fine line but I'm glad I went this route. I get 5 hours of sleep during the weekday. Mind over matter.
The balance comes from understanding the TV, sports and video games are just short forms of entertainment. It will still be here tomorrow. Building a business can only take shape after the foundation is laid. Traffic, leads, backlinks, serp…. it all comes from laying down groundwork today to succeed in the future.
All of this wouldn't have happened unless mentally I was able to fix on my “why”. My why is to be able to spend more time with my family. Be able to work from home and replace my engineering job is just a tipping point. I have responsibilities outside of my own family. I plan to take care of my in laws in about 10 years so what I make today would be stretched so forward thinking is a must.
Is it worth it? === YES
I have been able to do 100x more than I would have expected. I have learned so much in the past year it's amazing I didn't do this earlier. I spent so much of my time on useless videogames and watching old movies. For what, so I can reference Seinfeld and know who played qb for the Jets 5 years ago?
My general work week in engineering is 40 hours. I get up at 5:30 and sleep at midnight. I generally squeeze in about 20-35 hrs into my marketing. How is this all possible? I've seen many people with 2 jobs, why can't I?
Internet marketing allowed me to sponsor a rep while in Hawaii by never even speaking, emailing or chatting with them. Generated hundreds in affiliate income and tons of leads all while hanging out on the beach. Sure I would have loved to write a couple articles or train some members but I know my online business doesn't go on vacation when I do.
MLSP has given me focus and the ability to network with fantastic other people with the same goal in mind. In 5 years I truly expect to be working from home and having at least a couple of my team working from home too. I Retiring from engineering would be nice but not the end game. I dont hate my job and I get paid very well. So who knows. Maybe I'll be a part time marketer for life to show that thousands can be made even part time as long as you have a laser focus on your goals.”
As you can see Lawrence Tam has learned time management principles, understands the importance of establishing your “why”, has developed a strong mental stamina to get through what he has to in order to establish the legacy this industry will provide you given your dedication to it, to yourself and to your family. You decide what you want in life – you are in control of your choices and habits. Make it what you want it to be – listen to the leaders who have been where you are, apply what MLSP teaches you and do not veer from your goal… your path may take a few twists and turns but keep your eye on the goal. If you'd like to hear more about Lawrence Tam's teachings you can listen to the Wednesday webinar where he was a guest speaker hosted on 2010-04-21 “Get Organized with Gmail and Other Tools”.
Thank you Lawrence Tam for your leadership and input.
Keep up the great work,

Lawrence, It's crazy the things you do with your business part time. I strive to keep up with you and I don't have a full time job. You are great leader, mentor and friend and I'm grateful that I found you online. Keep up the good work and I'll see you at the top!
Thanks Joseph. I try and lead by example. That is all I can do. My goal is for every one of my members to surpass my achievement. You my friend are on your way.
Mental Strength. Think of the Hulk. When you have had enough of being pushed around, get angry and push back. You are stronger than you could possibly imagine.

of course 🙂 hawaii is a beautiful place and will be going back in a couple months. I guess the 2 weeks I was there last month wasn't enough for my wife
Thanks for the article. I run a fulltime art and custom framing business as well as doing internet and network marketing. It has been challenging at times. This is a great article and very encouraging. Thanks Lawrence
stay focused on the goal. Make small strides daily.
This is a great article. Thank you for spotlighting Lawrence and his business.
you can be the next carl!
Great job Lawrence. Love your story and more people out there need to hear it. Reminds me of what Jim Rohn says about make 2 – 3 times his job salary but he did not quit because his story was too good. Love more stories like this because I have seen a lot of careers messed up by people getting a little to ambitious without a foundation in place. If you can't learn the discipline with a job, it will be even worst without a job at all. Much succes to you.
much success to you too Terry
Thanks for the story Lawrence, I work from home full time now and still am not getting your results, I need to really focus on my Why and be more productive. Great story.
Awesome story! I'm currently working outside of the home with hopes to come home to my family very soon. Our schedules are so similar, I wake up at 5am and go to bed between 11-midnight. Lawrence's story is an inspiration to alot of us I'm sure. Next time I'm overwhelmed I'll think of your story. Thanks Roxana for sharing.

Thanks Roxanna and Tam. I needed to hear these words to urge me on. 'Laser' focus: I like that term. Very soon I too will have a testimony on these pages, thanks to this advice! God bless
You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you for setting an incredible example of true and pure human will power.
It takes discipline to manage a part time business with a full time job. Unlike a second job a part time business has no income cap and many more tax deductions. If you want learn how I have been able to manage both, please REPLY!
