Wow, I am absolutely humbled and grateful to write this blog post as the May 2016 MLSP Member of the Month! Thank you Brian, Todd, Norbert, and the MLSP team for honoring me in such an incredible way!
In case you don’t know me, my name is Keili (sounds like Keely) Raven and I live in St. Louis, MO. I was first introduced to network marketing in 2002. At that time, I was a classroom teacher in Los Angeles and I was overworked, exhausted, and burned out (after two whole years). I was desperately searching for another way to support myself because I knew I had to quit my job so that I didn’t become a bitter old lady by the age of 25.
The first company presentation I saw had me hooked. Network marketing was just something that made sense to me. Finding out that so many other people had serious disdain for it though, was a rude awakening.
“No problem,” I thought. “I’ll make this work anyway. If other people can do it, surely I can, too.” My upline was in Europe, so I knew no one at the weekly meetings that I loyally devoted my Saturday mornings to. I did home parties, talked to people in my warm market, and even tried running ads on Google. I had a great product story and some business success. I’m pretty sure I was a 3 to 4-figure earner in that company…nothing to write home about.
Eventually I did quit my job, but my meager earnings in my network marketing company didn’t exactly pay the bills. I ended up getting another job…teaching.
It was definitely a better situation for me. I had school support, an invested community, and other perks, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me.
I’m a girl who started her first business at age 7, so I should’ve known that having a boss and rules imposed upon me is not my thing.
Fast-forward to 2008 when I quit that job and started my own tutoring company. That was one of the best decisions I ever made. I was in charge of my own schedule, I made way more money, and I even figured out how to get leverage by hiring other tutors to work for me. What I didn’t have, though, was residual income.
Now, don’t get me wrong, life was good then. I was married to a great husband, we lived in the area that I’d wanted to live in since I was a kid, and we had an amazing little girl (all still true).
But I saw an even brighter future, and my husband was totally with me.
So in August 2014 when my mom re-introduced me to network marketing, it still made sense.
As I pursued network marketing this time around, I remembered why I didn’t think I’d ever do it again. Chasing down friends and family, always evaluating whether strangers I met were a good fit for my company, holding home parties…just not for me.
My first several months in that company were filled with frustration. I attended every Saturday morning meeting, every national event, followed directions given to me, and my results were mediocre at best. I was willing to be patient, but became more frustrated when I asked questions that never quite seemed to get answered, and when my leadership made promises that they quickly broke.
That’s when I realized there had to be a better way and it was up to me to find it. I found some online mentors, people who had achieved the results that I was looking for and who were willing to share their answers. These industry leaders’ messages resonated with me. And one thing that I found they all had in common? MLSP.
I had found it! There was actually a system out there that had been designed to help me win. And I am so grateful for making the decision to join MLSP and use all the incredible resources available to brand myself and promote my business.
To be clear, I did not get off to the fastest start ever. I took on way too much in the beginning, trying to master multiple platforms at once. I love to learn, but I needed to implement faster. These are things they tell you in MLSP, but I apparently didn’t hear them at first.
Now, I’m almost a year into my journey with MLSP and I am close to reaching L3. MLSP really is a leadership factory. I know that I am a completely different person than I was when I started this journey. I understand that I need to be the leader that I seek, and that is what I am doing.
I am so grateful that I am now in a position where people contact me to tell me that they love my trainings and that I’ve been able to help them with some aspect of their business. It is incredibly rewarding to be able to pay it forward and help others realize their dreams.
So I say to you, thank you so much for reading a little about me. I encourage you to stay close to the MLSP community. So many of us here are ready and willing to serve you. If you’re ready to change your life and business today, take action like I did: watch the 19-minute video below and take MLSP for a test drive!
With much love and gratitude,
Keili
