When I left my job to go full time as Network Marketer and Home Business Coach I thought everyone would be just as ecstatic, excited and happy as I was, surprisingly this was not my reality. While some people including my boss at the time was very happy for me don't expect ALL of your coworkers, bosses, friends, and even family to be happy for you. In fact it was quite the opposite…
When we go against the grain and choose to step out in faith in a new direction in life and experience change it can create unwanted & discomforting emotions in the lives of others. Change is uncomfortable for many but more often then not its the necessary hammer that breaks the chains of complacency and mediocrity.
When people see you breaking out, it often forces individuals to look internally at themselves. If individuals are dissatisfied with the state of their life, actions, income, business, relationships, ect and see you in a place that they aren't or would live to be this elicits emotional/mental pain for themselves.
Moms say it the best, “sometimes people are jealous of you.”
It's hard to believe I actually get to coach people through this journey as well now…
OK, Back To The Story!
I gave my 2 weeks to the boss man and he was very supportive and encouraging and actually let me go that same day! I was over joyed and almost confused! This man reminds of the Father in the bible story of “The Prodigal Son.”
Anyway, he says to me “Ron, lets celebrate I'm buying you and the whole crew lunch today, anything you want!” And man that was one of the most satisfying meals I ever had, not only was it the best cheese steak I ever had, (sorry Philadelphia but it wasn't you) this was a meal to me the symbolized a new season of change in my life.
Let's call it “Breakthrough and Abundance”
My boss announces to the crew, “Guy's I bought us lunch today because this is Ron's last day with us, he is going full time as an entrepreneur!”
I was expecting a cheer, a congrats, anything…something…
What I was met with was…
Well… Blank stares down towards at their meals (not even looking at me) and…
…*crickets*…
No Response…
Awkward silence…
A longtime friend finally said something and asked “Ron what will you be doing?” and I shared in 1-2 sentences.
She nodded her head…
After an awkward moment of silence…
Without missing a beat the conversation went back to talks of YouTube videos, jokes, and other kinds of fun silliness.
As I sat there, enjoying my almost 2 foot long cheese steak smiling from ear to ear, I thought about how grateful I was to even have this job in the first place. I knew that being an entrepreneur is not for everyone, nor is having a 9-5 job, we are just wired differently and that is wonderful! Maybe I should have expected that response but in mind it played out a bit different, either way I'm still happy smile emoticon
It's funny…
One of my own family members told me that what I was doing was crazy and that I need that job, it's secure, it's safe, other people would kill to have the job I had. (I made 10-12 bucks an hr, manual labor in a production facility, and extra hours during holidays, still very thankful.)
Not everyone is going to accept or approve of what you do. One coworker even told me that I would be coming back to that job and he would see me again very soon.
I smiled and said, “Of course you will, I love you guys and I love this place, but you'll never see me an employee, next time I'll be your customer. :)”
Despite the poor receptiveness of my new journey from my coworkers I said goodbye to each one and shared with some of them how grateful I was to have worked with, laughed with, and bonded with during my time there.
I always knew that the job was only temporary but still worked just as hard there as if I personally owned the place.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galations 6:9
The reality and moral of this story is to persist, keep faith, and never give up. There is a plan for your life even if you don't know it or it is unclear to you. Other people won't see and understand everything you choose to do and that's ok! In fact I think its pretty awesome and the world needs more out-of-the-box dreamers, thinkers, and entrepreneurs!
I've walked through the jungle and made it through to the other side. In no way is my journey complete because success is not a destination but a journey.
I would have never gotten to a place where I'm now helping thousands of people in networking, online marketing, sharing Jesus, and coaching budding entrepreneurs without following the similar path of Jesus and other entrepreneurs before me…
If people never spoke greatness into me, I wouldn't be here. Allow me the honor to speak it back into you.
And Remember this…
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Great story Ron!
That silence you heard when you told your colleagues you were leaving your JOB to become an entrepreneur.. that’s a sound only successful people hear. In fact, most of your friends and family will never tune in to the same sounds you have done as an entrepreneur.
Keep the faith!

This is very encouraging, thanks for sharing it with us.
So uplifting.
Love this story as it is one of courage and faithfulness believing that dreams can be accomplished by determination and perseverance. It has also demonstrated the will to neglect the doubters, just leave them behind as they will continue to be a negative force.
